Jesus Christ Heals

The Omnipotence of Prayer

Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, wrote in Jesus Christ Heals that:

Prayer is not supplication or begging
but a simple asking for that which we know is
waiting for us at the hands of the Father
and an affirmation of its existence.

Prayer allows us to release the burden of doubt and fear and find that still center within our own consciousness. Joel Goldsmith wrote in Leave Your Nets that "in the presence of God, there is nothing left for which to pray".

I don't need to beg or barter with God for the good I seek. Instead, I need to open myself up to the power and presence of Christ indwelling and allow God to reveal my path to fulfillment. My path will be clear when I am, and not a moment before. To pray without ceasing does not mean pounding on the 'door' of God consciousness, but to replace the chaotic 'background noise' of my mind with a steady awareness of God.

Such a concept of God gives man
a point of contact that is never absent;
in all places and under all conditions he has the
assurance of the attention and help of God
when he realizes the Father's presence.
